’21 Back to School Blitz Tournament

Swiss Masters Chess Academy is glad to invite you to participate in its very first event, the ‘21 Back to School Online Blitz Tournament. This Swiss System Tournament is open to everyone and will be held on Lichess on Friday, 27 August 2021 from 7 pm until about 9 pm CET. It features 7 rounds with a time-control of 5 minutes + 3 seconds per move, and entry is free.

This is the first event of a series organized by the SMCA until the end of 2021. The ‘๐Ÿ๐Ÿ ๐’๐Œ๐‚๐€ ๐‹๐€๐”๐๐‚๐‡ ๐๐‹๐ˆ๐“๐™ series includes 3 independent online blitz tournaments open to everyone on the following dates:
27/8 – Back to School Blitz Tournament
25/9 – Mid-term Blitz Tournament
28/11 – Almost Holidays Blitz Tournament

There will be three identical prizes in each event:

1st Prize:
1-hour individual online training with GM Yannick Pelletier
Ticket to a group webinar given by SMCA in December 2021

2nd Prize:
DVD authored by GM Yannick Pelletier
Ticket to a group webinar given by SMCA in December 2021

3d Prize:
Ticket to group webinar given by SMCA in December 2021

Swiss Individual Championship 2021 – a recap from Flims

After a pandemic year of severely restricted activity, the elite of Swiss chess gathered again in Flims for the national championships. As all traditional opens were cancelled in order to comply with safety measures, only the 4 title events for men, women, juniors and seniors were organized in mid-July. Some of the best players in the country decided to stay out for different reasons, but the tournaments were nevertheless interesting and hard-fought.
